The challenge

Cigar City needed a packaging and campaign system that could keep pace with a fast release calendar, dozens of individual beers a year, without losing a consistent brand identity across cans, taps, and events.

My role

As lead designer, I owned the art direction and execution for major product launches and led additional designers and freelance artists to work within brand standards.

The work

Design and packaging for flagship and seasonal releases, including the Jai Alai mixed pack, High Boltage, Jai Low, and Cigar City Seltzer, along with two El Catador editions and dozens of individual can releases.

Beyond packaging, I designed a series of branded vehicle wraps, including more than a dozen delivery trucks and the historic streetcar trolley in downtown Tampa, taking the brand off the shelf and into the city itself.

The outcome

A packaging system flexible enough to support dozens of releases a year while staying instantly recognizable on shelf, plus a piece of civic-scale branding that outlived any single campaign.
